Dave Ellefson returned to training led by Dave Mustaine and is anxious playing in Lima. Dave, we've been waiting in Peru since 1985, the time Combat ("Killing is My Business and Business is Good!")
so long (laughs).
You know that Megadeth and once played here in Lima but that day many will miss.
Oh, thank you very much, I appreciate that you say, this will be my first time in Peru and will also Megadeth there is why I am very anxious to see them.
You are currently in Brazil, in Porto Alegre, how you feel to be in America again?
I feel great. I love being here in America, one of the places where Megadeth first arrived many years ago, to play at the Rock in Rio. Then came in 1994 for Youthanasia tour, played in Argentina and Chile, and I realized that the tours were becoming more widespread, as it added more and more countries. That's why this is like a second home.
Endgame Tour This is really extensive ...
started this tour in North America, then we are following through Central and South America and Europe and then go back North America and do a tour with Slayer and Testament. We occupied about 5 or 6 months.
What was the real reason for the separation of Megadeth in 2002?
Well, the band ended because Dave [Mustaine] had a serious hand injury and could not continue playing. Then everyone had to go their own way, as I did, I moved, I went to college, I studied other things until one day they called me to record an album of Megadeth , which was "The System Has Failed" because I needed a disc label based on contract. Honestly, I thought it was not a good idea so, for he had in mind my own album. Now we're back to do a tour together. Dave and I are enjoying a new friendship, the tour, we played very well together, you know, sometimes the process is painful but the end result is very positive.
All these years you continued to work: in 2003 with Soulfly, Max Cavalera's band and your band F5, which had very good reviews ...
What you say is very true, so I took that time because in all my years with Megadeth never did a solo project and I played anywhere that was not the band. Now is a good time to be together again, especially with the Tour Rust in Peace.
are 20 years and
(laughs) I do not know how much time has passed.
Do you know something of Latin American metal bands?
know Sepultura and Angra , I think these two are the largest in South America there. Puya In America I know.
And you know something about Peru?
I do not know much, only that it has high mountains and a pretty big stage that is visible from the air (laughter) I beg your forgiveness for my lack of knowledge but I want to learn more about Peru.
But we have good coffee here, ask Dave if you want.
Yes, I know. Definitely, I love coffee, for me is one of the wonders that God has given us.
What is your favorite album by Megadeth?
I like them all because each one has its special place, but there are some who perhaps you could list as the "Peace Sells", "Countdown to Extinction", but maybe the album that I spent more time listening to was the "Youthanasia."
What would you tell your "fans" waiting for you on Sunday 2 May?
Hombre, estoy tan ansioso de ir para allá, me han contado tantas buenas cosas del Perú… será mi primera vez con Megadeth en tu país y es algo que quiero hacer.
